The Earth Science Department of the University of Perugia was born in the 1977, in order to coordinate and promote the Geoscience research. Now, the Department is made up of 33 among professors and researchers, 14 technicians and administrators, and other non-permanent researchers (PhD, researcher on contract and scholarship students). The Department is divided in 5 sections that represent the main research area: Applied Geology and Geomorphology, Geology and Paleontology, Structural Geology and Geophysics, Mineralogy and Geochemistry, Petrology. Due to the growing of the Hydrocarbon geology field, recently a dedicated Master Course has opened.
